Why remodels go sideways

Nobody loses a kitchen to bad tile. They lose it to bad sequencing.

A remodel is thirty decisions and eight trades in the right order. When the order slips, the drywall goes up before the inspection, the cabinets land before the floor is level, and a six week job turns into a season of your life.

CJB is built the other way around. One carpenter owns the schedule, and the plan gets written before anything gets torn out.

01

The scope was never written down

A verbal walkthrough is not a scope. Everything after it is an argument about what was implied.

02

The permit gets pulled late

Framing stops dead while paperwork catches up, and the trades you booked move on to another job.

03

Trades stack on top of each other

Plumbing, electric and HVAC each need the wall open at the right moment, not all on the same Tuesday.

04

The last ten percent never ends

Punch list items get treated as favors instead of the final phase of the job.

What we build

Carpentry first, everything else scheduled around it.

Four ways CJB gets called in. Everything from a single bathroom to a full structure sits under one of them, and all of it runs through the same carpenter.

01

Kitchens and bathrooms

The two rooms that decide whether a house feels finished. Layout changes, cabinets set level, tile and waterproofing done in the order that keeps them dry ten years out.

  • Kitchen remodels
  • Bathroom remodels
  • Tile and surfaces
  • Cabinets and trim
02

Basements and living space

Turning square footage you already own into rooms you actually use. Framing, egress, insulation, drywall and a stair that passes inspection.

  • Basement finishing
  • Egress windows
  • Drywall and insulation
  • Flooring and trim
03

Additions, decks and new builds

New structure tied into old, from footings up. Sized, flashed and framed so the addition reads as part of the house instead of a bolt-on.

  • Home additions
  • Sunrooms
  • Decks and porches
  • Garage builds
  • New construction
04

Restoration and rehab

Back to sound framing before anything cosmetic goes on. Rot, water damage and failed structure get cut out and replaced, not covered over.

  • Repair and restoration
  • Rot and water damage
  • Full property rehabs
  • Failed framing

How a CJB job runs

Four stages. You always know which one you are in.

STAGE 01

Walkthrough

Chris comes out, measures, looks at what is behind the wall as much as what is in front of it, and tells you what the job actually involves.

STAGE 02

Written scope

The work gets written down before anything is torn out: areas, materials, sequence and what is not included.

STAGE 03

Build

Phases run in order, trades get called in on the day the wall is ready for them, and inspections are booked ahead instead of after.

STAGE 04

Punch list

A final walkthrough with a list, and the list gets closed out. The last ten percent is a phase, not a favor.

Who CJB builds for

Homeowners, investors and developers get different jobs from the same crew.

A unit turned and ready to list. Same carpenter, different clock.

Homeowners

You live in the middle of the job. Dust control, a clear start time and a house you can still use at night matter as much as the finish.

  • Kitchens, baths and basements
  • Additions and sunrooms
  • Decks, porches and garages
  • Repair and restoration work

Real estate investors

Your job is a hold cost. Scope gets set fast, the sequence gets compressed where it safely can, and the finish is chosen for the exit, not for a magazine.

  • Full property rehabs
  • Turn work between tenants
  • Pre-listing repair punch lists
  • Walkthroughs before you close

Developers and businesses

You need a carpenter who reads a plan set and shows up on the date in the schedule. CJB works with builders, property companies and commercial owners.

  • New single family construction
  • Framing and finish carpentry packages
  • Commercial build-out and repair
  • Construction management on smaller jobs
